The Chase Youth Commission (CYC) is the officially recognized voice for Spokane County youth, empowering youth as leaders and provides a platform to influence public policy. The Commission is comprised of ten high school students; five are City of Spokane residents appointed by the Mayor and City Council, the other five are Spokane County residents appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. Youth Commissioners are paired with a City or County partner who they will meet with throughout the year and look for ways to partner on youth issues. The CYC also pursues its own agenda based on the issues the Commissioners wish to focus on. We also host the annual Chase Youth Awards, an event that recognizes and celebrates youth K-12 for their community service, leadership, advocacy, diversity, entrepreneurship, achievement and sportsmanship. The Youth Commissioners also typically engage in service projects based on their interests.
