Activity Details

“Fishing for Ice” introduces participants to the six steps of the scientific method using household items to discover melting temperatures. Ever wonder why we use salt in the winter? Have you ever wondered if other items at home could work? Come join Science Speaks Spokane and learn how to fish for ice using only string and household spices! A demonstration AND active hands-on experiment will be provided for attendees. Participants will be provided with worksheets to take home and instructions on how to do this experiment at home. Children under age 9 should have a caregiver to assist in the learning. Children under 6 will be offered age-appropriate activities such as coloring and quiet toys.

Participate in our Summer Reading Club reading challenge between June 1 and August 31 for the chance to win fun prizes!
