Activity Details

Come learn the basics of how to draw an anime-styled portrait while also exploring ideology behind what makes anime “anime”. Not only will you go over how to replicate the stylistic traits often found in anime – think big eyes and gravity-defying hair – but you’ll discover the reasons behind these choices through the lens of cartooning as a whole. All supplies will be provided, including a Japanese soda to enjoy while you create.

At the MAC, our hands-on art workshops are designed to ignite creativity and help participants develop new artistic skills. Led by professional artists, each workshop caters to both beginners and experienced artists alike. Discover your creative potential and craft something uniquely your own.

About the Artist: Kiara Lime is a Filipino-American illustrator and storyteller based in Spokane and holds a BFA in Illustration from the Pacific Northwest College of Art (Willamette University). Inspired by shoujo manga, romantic dramedies, and vulnerable lyricism, Kiara’s work centers around emotional characters and sentimental narratives with a visual style that blends in illustration practice with fine arts background. Her work has shown locally through juried shows like Terrain and anime conventions like KuroNekoCon.
