This month’s IRL Spotlight highlights Elevate 90+ Girls Leadership Camp, a day camp empowering high school girls through leadership development, community building, and sport. Below, enjoy a Q & A with the 90+ Project’s Community Engagement Coordinator, Beth O’Dell, as she shares what makes this an unforgettable opportunity to engage “IRL”:
Elevate 90+ Girls Leadership Camp

Introduce us to the 90+ Project and what makes it unique:
The 90+ Project believes that soccer is a powerful tool for promoting the physical, mental, and emotional development, well-being, and recreation of young people. We’re passionate about using the beautiful game to create a strong sense of community, support mental wellness, and build character, sportsmanship, and leadership. Our goal is to empower youth to reach their full potential—regardless of economic background.
In 2–3 sentences, give us an elevator pitch for Elevate 90+ Girls Leadership Camp:
Every girl is a leader: she just needs to find her courage, confidence, and voice. This camp will help each girl elevate her leadership skills and give her the opportunities and connection to make a difference in the world around her.
If you had to describe Elevate 90+ Girls Leadership Camp in 3–4 words, what would they be?
Serve. Inspire. Empower. Community.
What can participants expect from a typical day at camp?
Each day girls will have the opportunity to grow their leadership and communication skills through a workshop model. They will have the opportunity to learn new sports and get support through a nutritionist. There will be women who lead through education and sport from the Spokane community guest speaking. There will be a service project and the girls at camp will create and carry out a community event on Friday. The event will be a 3 on 3 soccer tournament and carnival.
What skills or experiences do you want participants to walk away with after Elevate 90+ Girls Leadership Camp?
- Stronger communication and teamwork skills.

- A servant-leadership mindset rooted in encouragement and accountability

An important aspect of this camp is mentorship. Girls will experience mentorship from camp counselors, learn how to become mentors, and have the opportunity to come back the following week to the middle school camp and put what they have learned into practice. We will celebrate both camps with an awards banquet on the evening of July 1st.
