Introduce us to The Blue Door Theatre and what makes your organization unique:
For 30 years, The Blue Door Theatre has been Spokane’s nonprofit home for improv where we bring people together through laughter and creativity. Beyond our performances, we teach improv to children, teens, and adults, creating a welcoming space for people to build confidence, communication skills, and community. Every class and camp is designed to help people discover their voice, support others, and find joy. Along with our classes and camps, we perform every Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 PM.
In 2–3 sentences, give us an elevator pitch for your Summer Improv Camps:
Our summer camps are packed with laughter, imagination, and nonstop fun. Kids play improv games, create characters and stories, make new friends, and build confidence without even realizing they’re learning along the way.
If you had to describe Summer Improv Camps in 3–4 words, what would they be?
Creativity. Engaging. Connection. Playful.
Người tham gia có thể mong đợi điều gì từ một ngày điển hình tại trại hè?
Every day is active, creative, and full of laughter. Campers learn improv through fun games, interactive exercises, and storytelling that build confidence, communication, and teamwork. They also work together on scenes and performances and develop their listening skill and confidence. Our sketch writing camp gives students the opportunity to create, write, and perform their own original comedy sketches. Each camp ends with a student showcase for family and friends.
What skills or experiences do you want kids to walk away with after camp?
The courage to try new things and to learn from mistakes. Skill development includes team work, confidence, creativity, and communication.
